Who is it suitable for?
The Mitrofanoff procedure is major abdominal surgery and the decision to undergo the procedure should only be made after consultation with your Urology surgeon to help you determine if less invasive treatments or surgeries will be effective, or more suited for your condition.
Those patients around the world who have undergone the Mitrofanoff procedure often have other underlying chronic medical conditions such as:
- Congenital birth conditions: bladder exstrophy, spina bifida & neurogenic bladders
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Paraplegia, spinal injuries
- Cancer patients who have undergone treatment and surgery for: bladder, bowel, prostrate cancers
